Sarah has been a Foundation Governor for St. Nicholas’ Church since November 2013 and is Chair of Governors. She also sits on the Teaching, Learning and Assessment Committee, the Finance Staffing and Premises Committee and the Admissions Committee and is the link Governor for Safeguarding.
Sarah has three children who have all attended Archbishop Runcie First School. Two are now at Gosforth Central Middle School and her eldest attends Gosforth Academy. She is a qualified secondary school science teacher and previously worked at a large comprehensive school in County Durham, however, a love of science led her back to a research career and she is currently a scientist at Newcastle University, building a research group that studies the genetics of mitochondrial disease. In this role, she teaches both undergraduate and postgraduate students and sits on PhD student assessment panels.
