Agents of change!
Pupils selected as worship council leaders take an active role in planning these services as well as leading collective worship. Consequently, they feel empowered in their contributions.
SIAMS, September 2024
Our children are encouraged to be an integral part of leading change within and beyond our school. Courageous Advocacy is promoted through leadership roles in school, such as:
- School Council
- Green Team
- Worship Council
- Play Leaders

Taking responsibility and working together is threaded throughout school. Pupils understand how to take responsibility because of the range of opportunities they are given. Groups such as the school council and the green team effectively support this. Pupils understand the concept of justice and how it is lived out. Consequently, values such as compassion and respect frame dialogue when relationships break down. It is also expressed in the regular social action that takes place. Examples include pupils writing letters to the local member of parliament asking for help with the heavy traffic around school and litter picking at the local park. This advocacy work is typically focused locally and nationally, resulting in worldwide perspectives being more limited than other advocacy work.

Gosforth Voices
Gosforth Voices is a choir aimed towards children in Years 3 & 4, primarily from first schools within the Gosforth Schools Trust. It’s a fantastic way to make new friends from other schools, develop confidence in singing and learn new songs.
Each session starts with a vocal warm-up designed both to develop the voice and have fun! We work together to learn a number of songs over the year using different styles of music which include opportunities for solo parts, group leading, round/part songs and harmony singing. We prepare for a number of public performances during the year too.
Rehearsals take place on set Wednesdays during term time. For more information, please see our event calendar. For any queries, please email us.
Staff from school are able to take children to Gosforth Voices and collect them at the end of the session.
Gosforth Band
Gosforth Band is a mixed instrumental ensemble designed for children from Year 3 up to Year 8, primarily from first and middle schools within the Gosforth Schools Trust. It’s open to complete beginners right through to experienced players. We get together to learn new pieces and develop as musicians, gaining valuable musicianship skills and a good sense of ensemble.
We rehearse around ten pieces each year, working towards our annual MPN Big Gig performance in June. Young people are given copies of sheet music for their parts and have access to backing tracks using our digital platform. Musicians are develop or consolidate music notation reading, sight reading skills and gain a further insight into music theory. Rehearsals are dynamic and fun!
