Year 2 Home Learning - 13/1/21

Just to clarify that this work is for Wednesday 13th January but is being released this evening to allow time to print (if you would like to!) and resource. As always, please do as much as you can, there is no pressure to do everything. If you are struggling, please prioritise English, maths and reading.

Today's home learning is:

English - Today is our edit lesson. Look over your story from yesterday or ask a grown up to 'mark' it for you (if they have time!). What mistakes could you correct? Do you need to change any spellings? Could you include any more conjunctions? Try your best to edit your work using a pen. Tomorrow, you will redraft this neatly (including your corrections) in your home learning book.

Maths - Today we are continuing our multiplication and division unit. The video link is here: https://vimeo.com/488110327 it is called 'Add equal groups'. There is also an attached Powerpoint and worksheet.

SPaG - I have created a new spelling assignment for you on Spelling Shed, which will last until Thursday. You can log onto the website by following this link: www.edshed.com . Your username and password should be in your reading records. Good luck!

Geography - Today we are looking at the physical geography features of the Earth, in particular, the continents and oceans. This is a great video: https://www.bbc.co.uk/teach/class-clips-video/geography-ks1--ks2-the-world/zkk6t39 all about the Earth and its physical features. After this, there is a continents and oceans worksheet with a tricky 'Use your head' to get your brain working!

Handwriting - Can you write out some geography facts you know, neatly in your home learning books? You could even practice some spellings of the continents and oceans (no peeking!).

If you would like to complete some extra challenges (only if you have finished this work and would like something extra!), you can find the work on Monday morning's message.

It would be great if you logged onto Times Tables Rockstars/IXL/Spelling Shed to practice some extra skills too!

I hope you all have a great day and let me know how you get on so I can give feedback!

Year 2 Home Learning - 12/1/21

Just to clarify that this work is for Tuesday 12th January but is being released this evening to allow time to print (if you would like to!) and resource. As always, please do as much as you can, there is no pressure to do everything. If you are struggling, please prioritise English, maths and reading.

Today's home learning is:

English - Using our plan from yesterday, we are going to write our story of the penguin's journey! This is where you can get really creative and show off all your fab English skills! You need to include everything in your plan and the word bank you created on Friday to help lengthen your story. Remember to use conjunctions!

Maths - Today we are continuing our multiplication and division unit. We have finished recapping units from last year and are starting new, Year 2 units! The video link is here: https://vimeo.com/488108584  it is called 'Make equal groups'. There is also an attached Powerpoint and worksheet.

SPaG - Using your spellings, can you create a spelling scribble or spelling pyramid? E.g.

wr
wro
wrong

R.E. - Today in R.E., we are looking at the Good News that Jesus brought to Matthew. You need to work through the Powerpoint, which will help you answer some of the questions on your sheet. Think about the fact Matthew was a tax collector and was disliked by many people - why did Jesus choose him?

Handwriting - Can you correct the spelling mistake?

If you would like to complete some extra challenges (only if you have finished this work and would like something extra!), you can find the work on Monday morning's message.

It would be great if you logged onto Times Tables Rockstars/IXL/Spelling Shed to practice some extra skills too!

I hope you all have a fab day and let me know how you get on by uploading your work or sending me an email!
